I have and use both Pocket Genealogist and GedStar Pro– they are both
excellent products with excellent support. I use them with TMG and have no
problems. They have some different features. I think it is an individual
preference if these features are important to you. My main goal is to have my TMG
data with me when I visit a library or family member.
I have a Pocket PC and a Palm (which was given to me as gift this year.) I
have discovered and use other features that come with the devices. What I
suggest you look for no matter what product or model you purchase:
1. How does the device feel in your hand (we all have different size
hands.)
2. What features will you really use.
3. Find out what will happen to you DATA and SOFTWARE if the battery goes
dead!
4. I suggest you purchase a SD card – good place to store your software and
data.
5. Think about getting the folding keyboard – I love mine.
What is on my wish list? A light weight vest, with ZIPPED pockets. I want
to place the Pocket PC-PALM in a zipped pocket. I like to be hands free
when browsing book selves. Pant pockets and fanny packs do not work that well
for me The vest can not look like outerwear or the librarians make you remove
it (I know – I tried). Maybe TMG, Pocket Genealogist and GedStar Pro could
make it a joint effort to make a vest and put all the logo’s on.
