Lee, Terry, Teresa -- many thanks for your encouragement and advice.

Many thanks to Lee and Terry for the instructions on how to import my TMG
V4.0d data bases to TMG6. I had thought that I might have to go through
several steps of import (that is, first using TMG5, then TMG6) as was the
case earlier. But I see that *that* will not be necessary -- we can now
directly import to TMG6 from TMG4. That's great!

Of course, I will want to save the new TMG6 file in a new, separate folder
-- this would make the last TMG4 data base and the new TMG6 data base
available to me. I assume there is no problem in operating both versions
on one computer, since they are different?

And Terry posted this:

"The issue of the length of Tag Type labels in TMG5/6 seems to come
down to this:

- In standard English(US) labels are limited to 20 characters.

- In all other languages, the labels can be any length, but only 30
characters display in the tag box, list of tag types, and probably
some other contexts.

I have no idea whether this will change, but I'd suggest not planning
on any changes.

Since I understand that you intend your work as a recommendation for
others to use, my recommendation is to stay with the 20 character
length that works in standard English(US) for the following reasons:

- I'd think you can probably get reasonable labels out of 20
characters.

- Seeing longer labels requires opening up the column widths on the
displays, which is a problem for users with lower resolution monitors."

Thanks Terry -- this is what I shall do -- 20 characters.
I am glad that we have cleared up the question about the maximum number of
characters in tag names -- it's 20 with US English. I think this will work
with my needs.

Thanks all, for your help.
