I would say watch the product you buy. We had a dozen for work that
were name brand, combination type and at the end away from where they
attached to the laptop was a lever that flipped over to change the
combination. We had at least three that changed combinations on us, and
another three where the cable pulled out of the lock. Also if it only
has three digits its does not take too long to pick it by running
through all 999 numbers.
