As a comment on these two Sentence, you do not need the <and [P2]> entries
as you are unable to enter the Second Principal in a Death Tag. Thus the
Witness Tag Sentences should be:
[W] was present at the death of his father [P1] <[D]> <[L]>
and
[W] was the registrar who signed his father's death certificate [P1] <[D]>
<[L]>
Now these Sentences would only be used in narrative of which the Witness
was the focus person. The standard default Death Tag Sentence (the
Principal's Sentence) is:
[P] died <[D]> <[L]> <[A]>
making no reference to the Witness(es). So if you wanted the Witness(es)
to be included in a narrative focused on the Principal then you would need
to adjust the Tag Sentence so that the Witness Variable(s) are included.
Let's assume that you have two Witnesses to this Death Tag. The first was
just a Witness (first Witness Sentence above) and the second was the
Witness who was the registrar. The Tag Sentence then would need to be
adjusted to something like:
[P] died <[D]> <[L]> <[A]> with [WO] at [PFS] side.
resulting in something like:
John Smith died 31 Dec 2005 in Podunk Holler, Kentucky, at age 79 with Bob
Smith and Jim Smith at John's side.
Now if you wanted to say (in the same Sentence) that Bob was with his
father and Jim with his mother when John died, then you would need to use
Custom Roles (e.g., other than the Witness Role) for the Bob, Jim, and
possibly their mother, Sarah (if she is to be named rather than just
referred to (e.g., the mother). In this case, you would use the
appropriate Role name Variables something like:
[P] died <[D]> <[L]> <[A]> with [R:Son1] at [PFS] side while [R:Son2] was
at his mother, [RS:Mother] side.
resulting in something like:
John Smith died 31 Dec 2005 in Podunk Holler, Kentucky, at age 79 with Bob
Smith at John's side while Jim Smith was at his mother, Sarah Jones' side.
Hope this helps -
