I had AOL for a dozen years, then got disgusted with it and switched to
Earthlink. (The disgust was mostly due to their blocking RootsWeb
periodically and their very poor tech support.) I'm still on dial up since I
can't afford high speed (and there are no cable lines in this area). I've
never had a problem with TMG-L. Currently with Outlook Express, and
previously with AOL, I separate incoming mail into folders such as TMG-L,
Cornwall, SS, etc. Sometimes I don't read all my mail right away, but I
usually get to it before the second day. I skip threads that I'm not
interested in, save ones of special interest to refer to again later, answer
a few, read all of interest to me. Whether on high speed or dial up, the
reading is what takes the time, and high speed internet wouldn't help me
read any faster. Some web sites take a long time to load but mail comes
fairly fast. The real problems I have with dial up are when a friend sends
me a large picture or worse yet a film clip. If a download starts taking too
long, I just leave the computer and go do something else for a while. (I
spend too much time at the computer, anyway!)
