Our local phone company wants $25 or more for high speed (DSL I assume). (I
have Earthlink dial up for $15.95)

For TV I have a satellite dish that a friend installed as a get-well gift
several years ago. He then paid the monthly charges until I told him I'd
better take over since I was feeling guilty. However, I'm having enough
trouble making ends meet that I might be dropping the satellite service in a
few months, and just using my antenna. It only picks up a few local
channels, but I seem to mostly only watch reruns of old programs via
satellite, anyway! (I can give up TV a lot easier than the internet!)

With both AOL in the past and now Earthlink/Outlook Express, I often read my
mail offline. It takes very little time to download the email, then I read
it at my leisure. It downloads into the folders I've assigned for different
subjects. I subscribe to a number of mailing lists, most of them not too
busy.
