Subject: Bug in "Check for Duplicates"
Date: Wed, 1 Feb 2006 20:03:42 -0600
I am running v6.05 TMG Gold and I think that there is a bug in the logic for
the "Check for Duplicates" when running against a single individual. I note
for the record that the "Default" parameters do identify potential
duplicates. Otherwise, the program does not return any matches when I KNOW
there should be a match.
To test, I entered a duplicate identical set of individual records for
myself and my parents. I entered matching birth dates for all, thus assuring
that a match should be found, at least for my name. The selected parameters
are as follows:
Summary
aParent and child
aSiblings
aDifferent Sexes
aCirca = 10 years
aBef/Aft = 50 years
aUpdate progress meter every 5%
aStop after 500 duplicates
Surnames
aHave same soundex
aMatch if either surname is unknown
Given
aHave same first letter
aMatch if either given name is unknown
aEvaluate first name only
Birth
aYears are within 20 years
aMatch if either birth year is unknown
Death
Death dates are not evaluated
aMatch if either year is unknown
Parents' Given Names
aMothers OR fathers have the same first letter
aMatch if either parent's name is unknown (entered both parent's for
test)
aEvaluate first name only
Please help.
