Terry,
I have thought about this, and I agree with Chris. If I were going to run
two tags together in this manner, I'd create a role for the two tags that
would indicate on the PV that these were conjoined tags, like
Death/Burial-Deceased. Or something more creative. <G> That way I would be
able to tell on the PV screen that I needed those two tags to sort together
by looking at the roles. Then I would create the sentence globally for each
tag, and I wouldn't need to edit it again and again. I'd just select the
conjoined tag roles and sort the tags one day apart on the PV screen of the
person in question and move on.

On the death tag, the DEATH/BURIAL-Deceased role would be
[R:DEATH/BURIAL-Deceased] died [D] [L] [:NP:]

And the burial tag the BURIAL/DEATH-Deceased role would be
[:NC:], and [RP:BURIAL/DEATH-Deceased] was buried [D] [L].

Resulting in "Billy Bob Jones died 14 Jan 1898 in Rutherford County, TN, and
he was buried 16 Jan 1898 in the Miller Cemetery."

Terry,

I think that intuitively I would expect to put [:NP:] at the end of the
"first half" and [:NC:] at the beginning of the "second half". I don't
think it much of an issue about needing to edit only one tag instead of
two. No doubt once this feature becomes available people will find all
sorts of creative uses for it but, to start with, I would probably just
create some standard tag-pairs or role-pairs with standard sentences, so
I would not envisage making sentence changes at local level - which I
try to avoid doing anyway!

One obvious first use for me would be to link a death tag and a burial
tag to avoid yet another repetition of "He", and be able to report two
dates and two places in one sentence.

I note that the program capitalizes all first letters of sentences -
both those resulting from variables (like "He" from <[P]>) and those
entered by the user in a sentence or in a memo. I don't know whether it
is relevant to consider whether a [:NC:] code would be necessary to
suppress capitalization of user text. For example, in a burial tag
should I have to enter "[:NC:] and was buried <[L]> <[D]>" or could I
just enter "and was buried <[L]> <[D]>"?

Regards,
Chris
