Lorna,

I reviewed the post you sent me and, along with a tip that I received
off list from Elizabeth Rodier, the following process solved my
problem. I downloaded the free PAF 5 program from the FHL website and
created an empty dataset. I then imported the GEDCOM that was sent to me
into that empty dataset and exported that dataset from PAF 5 to a new
GEDCOM, changing the character set from UTF-8 to ANSI. I then I imported
that GEDCOM into an empty project that I created for this new
information in my TMG database. The import was accomplished with no
problem. Thank you for your help

Polly
