No response to this yet.

Perhaps John Cardinal can answer this question. In checking online I see
that HTML tags are always surrounded by angle brackets. If that is the
problem, is there some way to make angle brackets and their contents display
in an HTML format?

Thanks ... Kay Schmidt

Subject: HTML reports - Angle brackets in sources

Recently I've been generating HTML reports (a really neat trick I learned
from this great List). I've noticed, however, that e-mail addresses that
were entered with double angle brackets like this <<>> in the
Source don't appear in the endnotes. For example:

Full footnote in Source Definition:
<[AUTHOR], ><[AUTHOR E-MAIL], >[TITLE], (<[PUBLISHER ADDRESS]:
>[PUBLISHER]<, [PUBLISH DATE]>)<, [CD]><. [COMMENTS]>.

Printed report:
1. John Smith, <>, "Descendants of Alexander Breckenridge,"
(n.pub., 8 Apr 2003), p 15. [file obtained from author; well documented with
comments].

HTML output:
1. John Smith, , "Descendants of Alexander Breckenridge," (n.pub., 8 Apr
2003), p 15. [file obtained from author; well documented with comments].

So I thought, "Maybe I can live with that." and tried changing the
punctuation (in a different source) to get rid of the extra space and comma.
But that causes spacing problems.

Footnote in Source Definition:
<[AUTHOR]><[AUTHOR E-MAIL], ><"[TITLE]," ><[PUBLISHER], ><[DATE] ><(online:
[URL])><, [CD]>.

HTML output:
4. Mike Jones, "Some Progenitors (McClanahan, McClenahan)," AOL.Hometown,
Apr 2001 (online: http:/xxxxx/progen.htm).

Printed report:
4. Mike Jones<>, "Some Progenitors (McClanahan,McClenahan),"
AOL.Hometown, Apr 2001 (online: http:/xxxxx/progen.htm).

Is it possible to have one source that will produce the correct punctuation
in both types of report?
