If you made the backup using the 'backup on exit' option in Preferences,
there is a known problem restoring it (backups made from the File menu restore
without a problem). Your data is safe - but it must be restored manually.
Contact tech support for help with that.

When you have freezes in tmg, try closing tmg by checking for an update in
Help (and cancelling the update after tmg closes) before using ctrl-alt-del.
Using 'check for an update' will allow tmg to close its open files before it
shuts down.
