Subject: can't add source elements

I have a Social Security Death Index (SSDI) that is a custom source. I
tried, for the first time, to add a source element to it. Followed the
usual procedure, double-click on one of the empty labels, pick out the
source element I want, and Select it. Nothing happens. The label remains
blank; no error message. What is different about this source? I can add
source elements to other tags.
