Well, no, you wouldn't be 1/8th if she's an 8g-grandparent. Here's how it
works assuming full-blood at the given level:

One Parent - You are 1/2
One Grandparent - You are 1/4
One Great-grandparent - You are 1/16
One 2G-grandparent - You are 1/32
One 3G-grandparent - You are 1/64
One 4G-grandparent - You are 1/128

Etc. I'll let you do the math from there. <VBG>

I've just discovered, through recent research and with TMG relationship
turned on that one of my grandparents is an Amerindian born in Québec circa
1647.
As TMG says she is my 8th greatgrandmother I was wondering if this would
indicate that I am 1/8th Indian or my bloodline is 1/8th part Indian.

Does anyone know how this works?
