Let me see if I can explain this better. I'll shorten my snippet a bit.

1. If my memo has:

... Creek[CIT:]1:3;Purchased from ... <no spaces>

With Report Options set to footnotes Embedded in Parentheses I get:

... Creek(Purchased from ... <no space before opening paren>

With Report Options set to _regular_ footnotes (not embedded), I get:

... Creek14 ... <correct>


2. If my memo is:

... Creek [CIT:]1:3;Purchased from ... <space after Creek>

With Report Options set to footnotes Embedded in Parentheses I get:

... Creek (Purchased from ... <correct>

With Report Options set to _regular_ footnotes (not embedded), I get:

... Creek 14 ... <incorrect: space before footnote number>

3. If my memo is:

... Creek[CIT:]1:3;<space>Purchased from ...

There's no effect at all on output; the <space> is ignored.
