Jim,

I feel your pain. There's really no way to do exactly what you want but
there are options you might be willing to settle for.

One option is to simply not use a date in the burial tag but just give it a
Sort Date that will fall after the burial date of everyone attached to the
tag.

Another option is to put the date of the owner's burial in the tag's date
field and then construct your witness burial sentence so that it picks up a
Witness Memo segment which contains the date of burial for each of the other
witnesses. That said, you'll have to have a separate burial Role for each
person in the plot (e.g. Witness-1, Witness-2, etc.) or else this solution
won't work. The witness sentences could all read:

[W] was buried [WM1] [L]

(where [WM1] is the date for that witness). That would leave [WM2] open for
any other comments you might wish to make about the witness burials.

I'm sure others may have some ideas I haven't thought of.

Linda

Subject: [TMG] Burial sentences

I have cemetery burial records that list the lot owner and those people
that are buried in the lot. Since those people are somehow related to
each other (usually) I would like to group them as "witnesses" to the
owner of the lot. I would add the burial tag to the owner of the lot
and then add other people as witnesses. This way I can see who's buried
along with whom. The problem I'm running into is that the witnesses are
shown with the burial tag with the date the owner was buried and not the
date the witness was buried. I would like to see the witnesses burial
date. I also don't want to add another burial tag for the witness so
that the date show correctly. Is there a way that I can have each
witness show with a different burial date? How do other people handle
cemetery records.

At first I was listing the "witnesses" in the memo field of the lot
owner, but then I couldn't see the relationship amongst the witnesses.
I don't want to duplicate the memo field for each witness.

I use the witness for other tags like census, wills and obituaries and
they work great since there is only one date. I would like to do the
same for burials.

Thanks in advance,
Jim
