Hi Tami,

A few months back I was confronted with the same problem. I did a lot of
searching and really didn't find anything "portable" that I liked that would
be as good as a normal flat-bed scanner. I have a notebook (one of the
wide-screen ones) and carrying case. My daughter started looking around for
something that we could carry both the notebook and a scanner in. She found
a really nice, collapsible suitcase type bag that would hold both the
notebook and our normal scanner. If I'm not mistaken, she got the bag at Big
Lots -- but you could probably find one at most any discount store. The bag
has wheels on it like normal luggage, is simple to use, and, when no in use,
folds up to about the size of a flattened out loaf of bread. Now we take the
notebook and scanner anywhere we go. If we are just going to use the
notebook, it's a simple matter to slip it out of the bag and leave the
scanner. This solution has worked really well for us and the extra minute it
takes to pack everything is well worth the effort. If I'm interviewing
someone, I just wheel the notebook and scanner right to the door and have
never been refused to set up at the kitchen table. It is wonderful at
reunions -- a line will actually form with people bringing photos for you to
scan. :-)
