I find a digital camera works better for me than a scanner. It has enough
resolution to photograph book pages and OCR will read the files ok. I also
copy photographs and documents (no size restriction) with the camera. I
find the camera much easier to carry and serves more purposes. I now never
pay for copies and for most things setup is instant. For copying a lot of
photograph a tripod can be used to make a "fixed" set up. I find something
in the 6 mpx size is adequate.
Although a camera will be more expensive the number of things it can be used
for outweighs the increased cost.

Subject: [TMG] OT: Portable scanner
I'm going to be going to a couple of family reunions this summer. I know
some of the people there will have photos that I'd like to get a copy of.
Has anyone purchased a "portable" scanner that they've taken to a reunion
(or something similiar) and are happy with it or what do you do?
Thanks
