Hi List,
I'm trying to work though a few things and would appreciate your take on
some of them. Today it is the Source Definition. Please pardon previously
asked questions and correct me if I am wrong. The questions at the end of
each section below, probably belong in a Wish List somewhere. Is there one
on the forum? I'll check there after I get some feedback.
General (Source elements) - There are a finite number of source element
groups (24 plus the 6 "reserved" items called from other portions of the
source or citation definition (Comments, Citation Detail, Citation
Reference, Repository, Repository Info and Repository Reference). While 24
should be enough, it seems that as soon as I add an element to one group, it
turns up I need that new one and an existing one in the same group in the
next source template I define. - Is it feasible to add a few user defined
Source Element Groups (e.g. User1, User2, User3, etc)?
Supplemental - The only item on this tab which can be used in the output
templates is [COMMENTS], which can also be called [M], [M1] - [M9], [MEMO],
[MEMO1] - [MEMO9]. Doesn't matter which of these one uses in the output
template, you get the information which has been typed into the Comments box
on the Supplemental tab. - Correct?
The other items on the Supplemental tab (Recorder, Medium, Fidelity,
Indexed) are for the TMG User's use only. They can be used in filters for
the "List of Sources" report. As far as I can tell, this is the only use for
them. I am forever looking for "electronic" in the medium list, even though
I know it's not there. - Is it feasible to allow users to add other items to
these drop down lists?
Attachments (Repository) - The "Name - Other" defined in the Repository
Definition is what is output when [Repository] is used in the output
template. [Repository Info] is really the data input into the place fields
and doesn't appear to adhere to the place style selected. - Is this by
design or a bug?
Thanks for your input.
Laurie
