Hello List,
This is my first post as I am a new TMG user.
I used the direct import facility of TMG to import a FTM file with over 73,000 individuals. It took 2+ hours but the results appear to be good. I then ran a couple of reports on the people I was interested in. First, I prepared a Descendancy Narrative report which identified 4,839 individuals. I then ran a Descendant Indented Chart and manually estimated the number of individuals - this turned out to be 5,544. So my first question - why the large discrepancy?
I then used a Focus Group to identify the individuals I am interested in for later export to a new dataset. I checked the Descendants and Spouse boxes and got an initial focus Group pf 3,913. I realize this does not include Spouses (of Descendants) so I then added up all of the spouses on the Descendant Indented Chart report. This came to 1,503 which when added to the 3,913 already in the Focus Group amounts to 5,416. Assuming my previous calculated number of 5,544 is correct, this leaves 128 individuals unaccounted for (5,544 - 5,416).
My questions here are:
- any thoughts on the missing 128 individuals?
- assuming that I now have to (semi) manually enter over 1,500 spouses to the Focus Group - is there an easier way?
- why are spouses not included when building the original focus group? It seems logical to include them.
Thanks,
Ian Chisholm
