Thanks, John. I looked for that forever last night and couldn't find
it (too much partying, I guess). Guess I was just remembering that
External were added and not finding it, I did what your're not
s'posed to do -- assume.

So I have re-run my tests with that in mind and as you say, if the
option is selected _OR_ if the Exhibit is Internal then there is no
difference in the size of the backup file. On the other hand, if the
option is selected then the backup file is something slightly greater
than the size of the External Exhibit(s).

Thus selecting the SAMPLE project with 18 Internal Exhibits, the
backup file size is 3449KB. In this case, the option was not
available (grayed out) as it was not applicable. Changing one
Exhibit to External (Rev. Frank Alexander, #1's image), then the
backup size without the option was 3373KB while with the option
(External Exhibits included) then the file size was 3449KB -- the
same as the Internal Exhibit file size.

The tests were all run with the same SAMPLE project and only the fact
of Internal, External, Include External, or not Include External were
changed for each test. Ten tests were run based on location of the
External Exhibit -- the project folder, the TMG Program Files PICS
folder, a PICS folder not with the TMG Program Files folder (same
hard drive), a PICS folder on another hard drive (same computer), and
a PICS folder on a different computer (same network). Prior to each
test, I ran File=>Maintenance=>Optimize so that each test started
from the same level.

For the Optimization when changing from Internal to External, the
difference in project size was slightly more than when optimization
was done from one External Exhibit (location) to another. The
difference here and in backup filesizes (internal or with External
included, and without External included) is probably due extra
overhead for pointers and the like (all internal to the program requirements).

Suffice to say, I sure messed up last night. Just goes to show I
can't party like I used to. <g>

Sorry, folks -
