Folks,
I think you are also forgetting that you can save different backup
configurations. You do not have to save them all the time. I have a Backup
configuration where I backup everything and one where I backup everything
but external exhibits.
Note: When you restore from backup, make sure you have the folder where the
exhibits are on your computer or accessible. On my old computer, my hard
drive was split into two drives and all my external pics were on the D drive
in a folder titled Genealogy with subfolders for families. When I got my
new computer I loaded TMG and then restored my backup on it, TMG placed them
in the PICS file under TMG's Program Files even though I had copied the
Genealogy folder to my undivided C drive on the new computer. All my
exhibits in TMG were thus duplicated! I did not discover this untilrecently
so exhibits added after are in my genealogy folder under the family folder
and all the exhibits from the transferred backup dumped together in the
TMG/PICS folder without any of the taxonomy (folder structure) of my
Genealogy folder! So much for keeping them in a separate place NOT in the
Program files.
I need too fix this but it will be a pain! Does TMG's check for exhibits
look in nested folders?
Thanks in advance!
Jan

Do a backup, then select File=>Maintenance=>Optimize. Now do another
backup using the same options as the first backup. The second will
probably be smaller. The pre-optimized backup will include all data
that you have changed or deleted as well as some minor administrative
data used by TMG and is re-created as needed.
Hope this helps -
