No. Internal images are stored within the Project files --
specifically within the *I.* files of a project. The /PICS folder
would be where External Exhibits might be placed. There is no
requirement that External Exhibits be placed in the /PICS folder,
this is really just an example of one way External Exhibits may be treated.

They have as much value as you wish. They are there as
examples. Many users of TMG may not have any External Exhibits that
might be available for use with the SAMPLE project. These allow you
to play with the External Exhibits and learn how TMG treats them.

As installed, yes. But you can change that as you wish.

No, it will not cause problems. Yes, you can keep your External
Exhibits in the /PICS folder. Whether you should or not is up to
you. Personally, I keep my External Exhibits in a folder (called
PICS) that is on another drive from the program folder. I also keep
my Project files on another hard drive as well. Thus the TMG program
folder has two subfolders that I do not use for my personal projects
-- the /PICS and /PROJECTS folders. This keeps all my data files
separate from my program files. Most experienced persons follow this
in some form or another.
Hope this helps -
