I believe that if you want to be compatible with a MAC the length is 31
characters, and I use underlines instead of spaces.

Subject: [TMG] Exhibit Fie Names
Since I will be using Second Site to make CD & a Web site, I will need to
use external exhibits. Also since Second Site outputs all its exhibits to a
single folder, renaming all duplicate files, I will need to use a single
folder system (no tree) to avoid confusion in tracing errant exhibits back
to the image file in TMG.
So, I need to devise a file naming system:
Below are my ideas, but I have never done this before.
Citation & Source Exhibit filenames
<year>_<sir name, given name>_<document type>_<etc>_<page #>
Ex: 1860_McCrady, John_Census
Person Portraits filenames
<sir name, given name>_<year>
Allows for the sorting out the Portrait Images
Place Maps filenames
<country, if other than U.S.>_<state>_<county>_<city>_<place>
What are the restrictions on the exhibit file names when using TMG, & SS
(with XP operating system)?
Maximum Length?
Spaces or Underline?
I don't want to use an underline unless necessary.
Anybody have their own way of naming files?
