Subject: Thank you--Using Output Form, not source definition
Date: Sun, 1 Oct 2006 18:07:53 EDT

Thank you for your replies to my query.

I set up a sample file and tried three different forms for my sources: using
the template, not using the template, and using Terry's helpful Simplified
All-purpose source template. I used TMG 4.x for my original sample file, opened
the file in TMG 6.x, and then used GEDCOM to open it in PAF (the only other
genealogy file I had).

As predicted, the file opened fine in 6.x, with all the sources seemingly ok.
In PAF, I think the template sources and Terry's Simplified came through for
the most part ok. If the Simplified template title was too long, the last
part of it did not come through. The sources using neither the template nor
Terry's did not come through, though the CD part did.

Again, thanks for your help with this. I think I will try to use TMG's
templates, though at times will use Terry's Simplified when the source suggests
wording of the source (as, for example, NEHGS does with some of their databases).
