Ron and Bob,

I do not use French either but I have many German names and location which use special characters and have not run into this problem.

I am operating with WordPerfect Version 12.

If I generate a journal report and run option specify version 8+, the report is create using Arial font and it _does not_ show any of the special characters.

On the other hand, the journal reports which I normally run uses run option version 5.1, specifies Times New Roman font and the _special characters are printing_ both in the body and in the index of the report.

I do not use Word Perfect nor French but a suggestion:

Open the report in WP so that you can see the indexing codes. Do the
codes for names with accents have the accented letters?

IMO if they do then the problem is with WP. If not then the problem is
in the TMG Report Writer.

This problem probably would happen with any language that uses accented
letters: German, Spanish etc.
