Michael,
Yes, as long as there is something different in the places, TMG will allow
them to have different place styles. BUT
You will have two places in your MPL.
You can not use the events button in the MPL to find all the events with
this place, since it will actually be two places.
But I have been doing it this way since place styles were created, and I
have no problem with it. Just make sure the two places are somehow
different. I do this by putting the place style name in L10 with an
exclusion marker.

Subject: [TMG] Place Style questions
I have a rather nitpicking and a serious question about setting up place
styles.
First the serious one. Is it possible to have two or more place styles to
handle the same address? For instance I have the address Prince George's
County, Maryland. Suppose I want to have a colonial place style where State
is given as Province and the normal style where State is State. The
contents of the two addresses would be the same but TMG will only allow one
place style for the identical addresses. I could list the colonial one as
Province of Maryland or Maryland Province but that does seem a bit of
overkill.
My primary purpose in this has to do with census reporting. If I can
distinguish between the location of a "normal" BMD type of event and a
census event I can adjust the associated text to reflect the detail type of
entry (address, etc.) on the BMD event and the township entry on the census
event. I would place these two entries in the same category, i.e.., detail,
especially when the census is being done in the rural areas of a county.
Any suggestions?
And the nitpicking one. Maryland declared its independence as a colony in
1776. It did not ratify the Constitution until 1788 at which time it became
a state. What was it in the period 1776 to 1788?
Thank you
Mike
