As David Ball noted, what you do in TMG is often a matter of
opinion. If you feel that you need a Custom Source Type or that you
need to customize the Source Templates of a single Source then you
should do that. I would suggest that you consider a few things prior
to adding new Custom Source Types (or Tag Types and may other custom
items). If you expect that the item will only be used once or just a
few times then maybe you should just customize the Source (or similar
Tag or whatever). But if you think you would be using the Custom
Source Type (Tag, etc.) then you need to create the Custom item. The
idea here is that the more it is used the more it will save you time.

Another consideration is consistency. Custom items tend to make
entry of data to be more consistent. This makes reports more
consistent and less confusing. Whether you follow the Mills or the
Lackey or your own or some combination of citation models is not as
important as consistency.

Still, in some cases, the model(s) available do not quite fit the
situation and what you come up with may be better. So don't be
afraid to Customize. But again, consider what the situation is and
don't be too hasty to go either way.

Hope this helps -
