Does this same concept work for the calendar? For example, if you go back
to an obit that gives the date of the death, but not the date of the funeral
(says Thursday), rather than sit here and calculate on my fingers, I just
use the calendar to get the date of the funeral. Is there a way that the
system copies it to the clipboard when I close the calendar, etc.......

You don't have to - it's already copied to the clipboard when you close the
calculator. Just click on the date field and paste it in.
