I would also like a early map of the county. I found a microfilm from the
LDS that had early tax records on it. Sorry to say I just copied the
families I was looking for. Here is info. on the film I used:

Personal property tax lists, 1782-1857 Virginia. Commissioner of the
Revenue (Montgomery County)

Microfilm of original records at the Virginia State Library and Archives in
Richmond, Virginia.

each year. Lists give the name of person taxed or tithed, type and amount of
taxable property, amount of tax, and the county statistics.
