Diane,
I'm forwarding this message to family researchers who may not be
on the VAMONTGO list. And Ed, thank you for letting us know the
map is available.
Although I have already posted the chronology of early attacks as
recorded by Archibald Thompson in his diary, transcribed by Lula
Hankins Hunter, http://www.public.asu.edu/~moore/archibald/ I'm
going to list them here because you have identified "The Glades,"
among other important early landmarks. Sometime before 1749,
John Elswick, II, died, and I'm wondering if he wasn't killed in
some of the early attacks. Also a Nathaniel Finch. I'll just keep
watching to see what you all find.
". . . as one of my Kinzer's lived at "The Glades" area ca.
1742. And was one of the settlers living in the same settlement
of the Draper's and Col. James Patton, who was killed by
the Shawnee, 30 July, 1755, 21 days after Braddock's defeat. "
