I am looking for the origin of the BARBER family in Sheffield and Wheelock.
Joseph Barber settled in Sheffield in 1812 and was the first blacksmith in
town. He was perhaps born in Barrington, NH. Family tradition says his
father was John Barber and he was killed when hit by a falling tree in
Ossipee, NH. Joseph m. Polly CLARK and supposedly had 12 children. Also, I
have traced the family forward as much as I have been able, and am willing
to share information.
