Hi Cindy & everyone,
I looked through Donald Barber's book: The Connecticut Barbers, A Genealogy
of the Descendants of Thomas Barber of Windsor, Conn., and I didn't find a
Joseph married to Polly Clark, but I did find quite a number of Joseph
Barbers in the Pownal, VT, area. If you could let me know the names of some
of his children, I'd be happy to look through this again, as some of the
Josephs listed have children, but the wife's name is unknown.
I'm also looking for Barbers in VT. Mine are in and around Swanton: the
family of Jesse and Hepsibah (Humphrey) Barber, formerly of West Simsbury,
CT. They settled in Fairfield around 1790 and Swanton in 1806. Their
children were:
1) Roswell (1788-1818), married (1) Mary (Polly) Robinson and (2) Polly
Green
2) Hepzibah (died in infancy)
3) Hepsibah (1791-1874) married Timothey Foster
4) Achsah (1793-1884) married Philip Hall
5) Giles (1795-1883), unmarried
6) Theda (1797/8-1889) married Joseph Sumner Jennison / Jenison
7) Laura (1800-1863) married Silas Watson Noble
8) Theophilus (1803-1879) married Amanda Warner
9) Jesse (1806-1884) married (1) Harriet S. Robinson and (2) Elvirah Popple,
widow of Adonijah Lassell
10) Diana (1810-1871) married Patrick Henry McLaughlin (my line)
I have a lot of information for some branches and very little for others, so
I would love to meet anyone else researching this family!
Sincerely,
Holly McKenzie
