My great great grandfather was John Boyd whose father was Joseph Boyd and
mother was Margrethe Trainor of Ireland according to VT. Vital records.
He states he was born in Franklin, Vt but there is no record of his or my
great grandfather's Vernum Boyd birth in Franklin, Vt. I was told by
the Franklin town clerk while searching the records to look in Dunham,
Quebec since it is 6 miles from Franklin. I found a clue in the Vt.
Vital records which I have yet to go further with in that Lucretia Boyd
of Dunham, Quebec married Albert Dewing of Franklin, Vt. John Boyd was
married to Jane Hefflin and in Franklin there is Maple cemetery which
has graves for many Hefflin's the oldest appearing to be Silas Hefflin
and Susannah with 1812 on the stone. I need to re look at the writings I
have to be sure of the death date. In the first books of town records it
states that the mark of Silas Hefflin for his sheep shall be a hole in
the right ear. It has his X with a signature of an Esq. I also found in
the land records where Silas owned a farm and rode by and found a brick
house with large barn. John Boyd's land records indicate he bought at
the end of Cami Lake and has a mill site. He also states in some record
that his father was a shoemaker.
