M. Harbour,
Yes, your correct! But I always refer to your Webb family as the
Johnson/Floyd County Webbs. The Webbs that were living in Pike County were
generally from the Lawrence County Group originally which scattered into the
surrounding counties within West Virginia and Eastern Kentucky. The
families we're speaking of come together within the family of JOHN WEBB, JR.
and MARY BOONE. Your branch derived from the marriage of GEORGE WEBB and
HANNAH WEBB and my branch from JAMES WEBB and LETTIE NELSON. Just within
the little coal camp of Hardy where I was reared there were two other
families of WEBBs who were unrelated to either side and had migrated into
the area from
East Tennessee. When the mines closed down there in the fifties everyone
scattered in every direction looking for work. The last of my Great Uncles
passed away in Pike County in 1993 and is buried at Pikeville and his
daughter is still residing there.
