I have been trying to get some information together on my Webb family.
In the past I have received help from several people with a lot of
information. I have some more information that I would like to share.
My grandfather, Andrew Jackson Webb, b. 27 Nov 1844 was married to Ellen
Elizabeth(Melton) Webb, widow of Andrew's brother John Harrison Webb, b. 3
Oct 1851, d. 29 Mar 1885. Other siblings were Josiah, b. 26 Dec 1830;
Miranda, b. Abt 1835; Thomas Seely , b. 3 July 1837; Samuel Madison,
b. 6 May 1840 in North Grove, Ogle County, Illinois, d. 1 Mar 1925 in
Freeport, Stepheson County, Illinois; Oliver , b. 6 Aug 1842; Elmira,
b. 29 May 1849; Omer Hazard, b. 7 April 1856, Rock Run Township,
Stephenson County, Illinois.
Their parents are Joshua Webb, b. 3 Jan 1802 and Mary Ann Seely, b. abt
1822 daughter of Jacob Seely and Elizabeth Edwards.
In the 1880 census of Etna, Hardin County, Iowa Joshua (Joshaway) is
living with Omar H. Webb, his wife Mary and son Freddy O. This census also
shows that John H. Webb, his wife Ellen E. (Melton) and their children Irvin
(Ivan), Lenard (Leonard), Blanch (Blanche) with A. J. Webb (Andrew Jackson)
John and Andrew J. Webb are listed as being born in Illinois with their
father Joshaway (Joshua) being born in PA. Joshaway (Joshua) Webb's parents
were born in England.
Joshua Webb's parents are William Webb and Elizabeth Roup, daughter of
Mical Roup. As listed in the previous paragraph, both were born in England.
Joshua's brothers are William, Thomas, Samual, John, Moses, George and
Isaiah Isaac)
The 1900 census shows Andrew Jackson Webb and Ellen Elizabeth (Melton)
with children Leonard, Blanche, Grace and my mother (Edna) Gertrude Webb.
If any of this is confusing, I apologize in advance. I believe this is
connected to the John Webb and Mary Boone line but cannot prove it.
