Looking for information on the ancestors or origin of Capt. Thomas WEST of
Chatham, MA. He is listed several times in "A History of Chatham
Massachusetts", but no birth record is found in the Chatham vital records.
He married Sarah HAMILTON on NOV 1754 in Chatham, MA. Sarah was the daughter
of Samuel HAMILTON and Bethiah STEWART. Thomas and Sarah were among 300
people who emigrated from Chatham to Liverpool, Nova Scotia about 1762. They
had three children in MA: Bethiah b. 28 Jan 1756, Thomas b. 6 Jul 1757,
Sarah b. 22 Sept 1760 and three in Liverpool, NS: Peter b. 15 Sept 1762,
Paul 28 June 1765, and Abner. Capt. Thomas West died on 06 Feb 1804 in
Liverpool, NS at "nearly 80 years" of age. Any information would be greatly
appreciated.
