Hello List: Twice I have read messages from people looking for information
regarding Francis West. I have tried to mail this information back to the
people but the e-mail addresses are not correct. At any rate, I seek
information regarding the Francis West of Duxbury family line. I am the
eleventh in the direct line of descent as follows--Francis West and Margery
Reeves, Dr. Thomas & Elizabeth ?, Abner and Jean Look Cottle, Reverand
Thomas West & Drusilla Presbury, Timothy West & Lois Dexter, Presbury West,
Senior & Tirzah Carleton, Presbury West, Junior & Mercy Burton, Presbury
West III and Frances Lord, William Lord West & Frederica Sommers, and
William Lord West & Jean Vosberg. Does any one know of source documents
about the early generations which I do not? I have found the manuscript, A
Survey of Francis West & His Descendents, Carleton Prince West,
Winston-Salem North Carlonia, 1987 extremely helpful and the most recent
study I have discovered. This document is posted on the Dukes County
Historical Society Web Site at http://www.vineyard.net. (Dukes County is
basically Martha's Vineyard). I have also found this manuscript at the New
England Genealogical Historical Society Library. I would be interested in
the background of Carleton Prince West. In addition, Dr. Charles Banks
History of Martha's Vineyard in three volumnes, Edgartown, Massachusetts,
1927 is also rich in detail about the West's of Martha's Vineyard. I have
found this manuscript at the NEGHSL, at the Martha's Vineyard Historical
Society, and at the Minnesta Historical Society Library in St. Paul,
Minnesota where I live. Does anyone else know of other sources of
information regarding shared genreations? Thank you. Sincerely--Curtis West
