My West family originated in Leicester, England, where Henry West was a
foundry worker in the 1830's & 40's, and where there were also many other
West families in the county of Leicesterhsire. I have noticed your West
family in London, although as yet I have been unable to find any connection.

I am looking for any mention of a Henry Robert West, who arrived in
Australia as a private citizen, but under some sort of cloud, most likely
during the 1890's. He left a wife behind in Suffolk, England. His father
George West had left Leicester, in Leicestershire and settled in the county
of Suffolk, where he was a schoolmaster. George West may have been in London
or Kent for the 1861 Census, as he was a student in Southwark at the time,
but I have been unable to locate his whereabouts on that night. No one ever
saw or heard from son Henry again, although it is possible he may have
turned up on the USA/Canadian border at some point. My late mother seems to
have rememered Henry's Christian name as 'George', like his father, so it
is possible he may have called himself George West in adult life.

I am sorry that this is unlikely to be of any help to you, but if you have
a mystery Henry or George West, with no apparent history before he arrived
in Australia, it may be him! He has got to be somewhere!

After reading postings on this site they seem to be all American but I am
asking you all anyway for your help.I am looking for Eliza Charlotte
Banister who married Frederick West in 1880 in Marylebone . I have a part
record for her in 1861 at the age of 3months and what I want is to trace her
until she married I know she appears on the 1861 London Census with her
parents and sister but I cannot trace any more so if any one can help I will
be most grateful.
