It's been a while since I posted this. There seems to be lots of new activity on the list and I live in hope that someone will be able to help us over our Wise "stone wall". Another cousin (Frank Wise) and I are searching for the parents and grandparents of the person we believe is our ggg grandfather, Samuel Wise. Samuel WISE was born in VA abt.1785 and died in Ripley Co, IN after September 1865. According to the 1850 census, he and his wife Elizabeth (maiden name unknown) were both born in VA. We are making an educated guess about his relationship to us based on his proximity (next door) to our gg grandfather, George Washington Wise and his family, and their shared occupation (basket maker).

While we currently have no proof that Samuel is descended from the Accomack Co WISE family, he named one of his sons Tulley. The only other place I have seen that name in the WISE family is in the Accomack Co WISEs. Also, our great grandfather, Sylvester Jobe WISE bears a striking resemblance to the Henry Alexander WISE who was a professor at VMI. He graduated from VMI in 1862. I have a .jpeg file with pictures of both of them. If anyone wants to see them, I would be happy to send them. My guess is that I can't send them to the list.

Any help we can get in our search would be much appreciated.
